[FUNCTION] Catalyzes an oxidative deamination of predominantly hydrophobic and aromatic L-amino acids. Inhibits platelet aggregation and has an ability to induce hemorrhage. Has an antibacterial activity (By similarity). Induces apoptosis of cultured HeLa cells.
[CATALYTIC ACTIVITY] An L-amino acid + H(2)O + O(2) = a 2-oxo acid + NH(3) + H(2)O(2).

This enzyme, a novel snake venom metalloprotease, belonging to the metzincin family, is a monomeric glycoprotein with multifunctional domains. It is capable of inducing apoptosis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and suppressing the cell proliferation. This enzyme specifically hydrolyzes not only extracellular matrix proteins but also their cell surface integrin receptors.
